A bit about me…
I was born and raised in a small Alberta oil-town called Drayton Valley. After receiving a degree in modern languages and living abroad for a few years, I convinced my wonderful wife that Alberta is the best place there is for a young couple wanting to start a family. We now live in the ‘hamlet’ of Sherwood Park with our three sons.
Why am I writing this?
My writing here is intended to help preserve this province as a place of freedom and opportunity for the next generation. While I may not have appreciated it at the time, I grew up in one of the most privileged places on the planet. After I left and started travelling and studying I came to recognize that we can’t take what we have for granted; that there are certain reasons why our society has flourished, and if we don’t recognize and cultivate those determinants we take an enormous risk. We risk leaving our children with a lesser society — both materially and socially — than was given to us.
